Metallographic Silicon Carbide (SiC) Grinding Paper

CarbiPro silicon carbide (SiC) grinding paper is engineered for consistent, repeatable metallographic sample preparation across a wide range of materials. Our SiC abrasive papers are produced using controlled coating processes to deliver predictable material removal, uniform scratch patterns, and excellent disc-to-disc consistency.

CarbiPro SiC grinding paper is available in 8 in (200 mm), 10 in (250 mm), and 12 in (300 mm) diameters with PSA (adhesive) or plain paper backing, making it compatible with most manual and semi-automated grinding systems. Coarse and intermediate grits from 60/P60 through 600/P1200 are electrostatically coated to promote aggressive cutting and even abrasive distribution. Fine grits from 800/P2400 through 1200/P4000 are slurry coated, providing improved abrasive retention and enhanced control during high-precision grinding steps.

These SiC grinding papers are commonly used for the preparation of steels, aluminum alloys, copper alloys, cast irons, ceramics, and other engineering materials in quality control laboratories, universities, and research facilities. When should I use PSA-backed versus plain back grinding paper?

Are your SiC grinding papers compatible with standard grinding systems?

Do slurry-coated SiC papers replace polishing steps?
