PhenoMount Phenolic
PhenoMount is a phenolic thermoset resin used for general purpose, low cost, compression mounting of metallographic samples. Expect moderate shrinkage and medium hardness. Available in black, red, and green colors for identifying and contrast purposes.
Pro Trick: Use a paper towel to gently rub Isopropyl alcohol in a small spot on a cured mount. If the color of the phenolic bleeds onto the towel, the mount is not fully cured. Consider increasing the cycle hold time and/or temperature of the press. If the cloth is clean, you can rest assured the mount is cured.
