Metallographic Sectioning
Sectioning to the desired point of interest is one of the greatest advantages when performing sample preparation. Blade choice, rpm, and feed rate/load are all critical factors to consider in order to preserve a material's microstructure.
Abrasive Blades: Designed to break down during sectioning for continuous exposure of new abrasive. Select based on specimen material.
Precision Blades: Used for both precision and delicacy. Precision diamond blades are the preferred choice for heat treated steels, ceramics, glass and minerals. Select based on the specimen material.
Cutting Fluid: CoolSec is a water soluble cutting fluid that provides excellent cooling properties, corrosion resistance, and assists with removing swarf during the sectioning process.
